Lift-Off 2006 the place to be in July!
Canadian musical legends Loverboy, Colin James and Alannah Myles, along with local sensations Greenwich Meantime, will be the headliners at Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off 2006. The four popular acts will share the Lift-Off Stage with a long line-up of children's entertainment at this year's 10th Anniversary edition of the hot air balloon and entertainment festival, which is set to take place July 13th to 16th in Lamoureux Park.
"We are absolutely thrilled with the slate of headliners that have been assembled for this year" said festival chair Chris Savard. "These bands, coupled with the community hosting the 2006 Canadian Hot Air Balloon Championships, should result in a recipe for Lift-Off to host its best festival yet. The bands selected reprsent a wide cross-section of musical interests and we are confident that there is something to suit everyone.
Loverboy will take the stage Thursday night, followed by Colin James on Friday and Greenwich Meantime opening for Alannah Myles on Saturday. All three headlining acts have achieved legendary status, having each performed countless shows across the continent over the years. Local opening acts include Sam Hill and Superstone on Thursday, and Shotgun Wedding and The Shiners on Friday. New for the 2006 festival is a fantastic line up of family and children's entertainment. Saturday afternoon will feature a Canadian Idol competition starring 2005 third place finalist Aaron Walpole. The Junk Yard Symphony, tributes to Hilary Duff and Avril Lavigne will take to the stage on Sunday afternoon.
Buttons for the festival are now on sale at $10 each. The buttons offer the wearer admission for the entire duration of the festival. As an added bonus, until July 1st, you can purchase buttons at an early bird discount price of "buy 3 get 1 free".
