Local Attractions
There is always something interesting to see and do in Cornwall and the Seaway Valley. We have put together a list of our favourite attractions and activities, but be sure to check in with our Front Desk for up-to-the-minute advice on what to see and do during your stay.
Shopping
You need only step outside the hotel doors to experience one of Cornwall's busiest shopping corridors, Brookdale Avenue. Situated directly across from the hotel are such powerhouse retailers as Wal-Mart, The Source, Shoppers Drug Mart and Winners. Kelsey's Restaurant, Tim Horton's and Scotiabank are also in the same complex.
More eclectic shopping can be found in nearby Downtown Cornwall, as local merchants offer everything from fine jewellery to Tilley Endurables and more. Cornwall Square, the region's largest indoor shopping centre is only a five minute drive from the hotel, and offers 70 stores including Sears.
Entertainment
Depending on the season, your entertainment choices will range from indoor to outdoors. During the summer months, enjoy jazz and Shakespeare in nearby Lamoureux Park along the river, or catch the excitement of Junior A hockey as the Cornwall Colts take to the ice during the winter. All year long, you can catch a movie at the new seven screen Galaxy Cinemas, or watch live theatre and music acts at Aultsville Theatre, the Weave Shed or the Civic Complex.
Tourist Attractions
There are a variety of tourist attractions in the immediate area, and many more within a comfortable driving distance. Voted Canada's Number 1 Outdoor Tourist Attraction, Upper Canada Village (30min drive) allows visitors to experience life in the 1860s. The Nation's Capital and its collection of museums and art galleries is only an hour's drive away, as is Montreal. Lake Placid, NY is an 90 minute drive to the south.
Active Lifestyles
For those quests looking for a more active way to experience the area, then consider nearby Lamoureux Park along the St. Lawrence River (only five minutes away). This beautiful tree lined Park connects to over 45 km of recreational trails, in addition to being home to Marina 200 and the Civic Complex (public skating, indoor walking).
Golfers will take note of several local courses, including Summerheights and Upper Canada Golf Course. A par-3, mini-putt and driving range complex is located nearby the hotel. Ski enthusiasts will note nearby ski-hills in Malone NY (45 minutes drive), the Laurentians (90 minutes drive) or Lake Placid (90 minutes).
Boaters and fishermen can access the river at several different marinas and boat ramps.
