Staged at the historic Cornwall Canal, WaterFest features the exciting dragonboat races. One of the world’s fastest-growing water sports, dragonboat racing has been practice for over 2,000 years. Not only is it fun, it’s exciting to watch. The WaterFest invites everyone to spectate the races, but also encourages everyone to try putting a racing team together, or joining one of the many teams already active. Anyone can do it, so this is your chance to shine in the spotlight!
Other than the dragonboat races, there’s also plenty of dry-land activities to be found. The WaterFest stage will feature a full day of entertainment for all ages, so grab a seat and enjoy the performances. You can also browse the ArtFest, which features a host of local artists and artisans. From painters to jewelers, baked goods to garlic, and everything in between, the ArtFest is always a great way to take in some of the local talent.
The most important part of WaterFest, however, is the cause. The Kinsmen are hosting the event to raise awareness of and fundraise for heart and stroke diseases. All funds raised will go to the Heart & Stroke Foundation for research and educational purposes. After the last dragonboat race, the traditional Flower Ceremony will take place, honouring both survivors of and those who have lost their lives to the diseases the festival is combatting.
For a great time and a great cause, don’t miss the Kinsmen Cornwall WaterFest on August 8th. And while you’re in town, be sure to stay with us. Book your room today. We look forward to your visit!
