The holiday season is just around the corner, which means planning a trip to Cornwall is definitely a good idea. Cornwall comes alive during the holidays, owing to its many holiday-themed attractions and activities. From the annual Santa Claus Parade to an amazing lights festival just west of the city, you can’t go wrong if you’re spending the holidays in Cornwall.
Alight at Night at Upper Canada Village
Upper Canada Village is back with their annual holiday-themed event, Alight at Night. Alight at Night is Eastern Ontario’s biggest outdoor lights festival and is scheduled to begin November 28. Alight at Night guests are invited to embark on an enchanting winter stroll filled with over a million lights. Lights are hung everywhere from trees and fences to heritage buildings. Ultimately, it is the perfect winter wonderland experience, and it’s less than half an hour from Cornwall.
The holiday season is upon us, which means now is the time to start shopping. Luckily, Cornwall is filled with fabulous shopping centres and independent shops. Cornwall Square is the main mall and it has a ton of stores, including Foot Locker, EB Games, Coles, Urban Planet, and Cleo. At the corner of Tollgate and Brookdale, you’ll also find several retail stores, like Best Buy, Winners, Sport Chek and Sally’s Beauty Supply.
Santa Claus Parade
Cornwall’s annual Santa Claus Parade is back for yet another year. Taking place on November 28 from 4:30 pm until 9:30 pm, this evening parade is happening in the Cornwall Civic Complex Parking Lot. Unlike previous years, Cornwall’s Santa Claus Parade will be a drive-thru event, in order to ensure everyone stays safe from COVID-19. The event will see cars travelling along a defined route, and looking out at the stationary holiday floats and displays from their car windows.
If you’re planning a visit to Cornwall this holiday season, then you’ll want to reserve a room at the Ramada by Wyndham Cornwall. We offer comfortable accommodation, luxury amenities, and an unbeatable location near some of the top holiday activities and attractions in the city.

Are you going to be in Cornwall this Halloween? Then you’re in luck because despite the pandemic, Halloween 2020 is a go in Cornwall (with COVID-19 restrictions in place, of course). Just like any other year, the children of the city will be invited to take part in the age old tradition of trick or treating. However, this year Cornwall has come together to offer a safe way to take part in this festive activity in the form of a drive-by Halloween event. Keep reading to discover more about how to safely trick or treat in Cornwall this Halloween.
Trunk or Treat Hosted by the Optimist Club of Cornwall
To ensure no child goes without candy on Halloween, the Optimist Club of Cornwall is hosting a COVID-friendly Halloween event known as Trunk or Treat. Taking place on October 31 starting at 4:30 pm in the easternmost parking lot of the Cornwall Civic Complex, the event is free for all to attend.
Trunk or Treat will see volunteers handing out wrapped treats while participants remain in their vehicles and slowly make their way through the parking lot. There is going to be between 30 and 50 booths, all handing out candy to participants. Cars will follow a horseshoe route, with music and decorations set up in the middle. Of course, costumes are encouraged and social distancing measures, as well as face masks are mandatory.
The Optimist Club is preparing for up to 2,500 participants, and families without cars will also be welcomed, although the logistics of that are still TBD.
Traditional Trick or Treating Not Recommended
Unfortunately, Cornwall’s regional health unit, The Eastern Ontario Health Unit, is strongly recommending that Cornwall residents avoid traditional trick or treating this year. Their reasoning being the climbing COVID-19 cases in both Ontario and the nearby province of Quebec. This will likely make the Optimist Club of Cornwall’s Trunk or Treat event even more popular, as it provides a safe, low-risk way of celebrating this festive holiday and providing a sense of normalcy to the children of the area.
If you plan on visiting Cornwall this Halloween, then be sure to book a room at the Ramada Cornwall. We offer quality accommodation, top-notch amenities, and a convenient location right in the centre of the city.

The humble hamburger means something to nearly everybody. The ideal food for a backyard BBQ or a fast-food pickup, it can mean anything from a bare patty on a bun or a gourmet sandwich with truffles and foie gras. You can have a burger you’ll never forget for as little as $4 or for as much as $300 – and you’ll find people willing to fight for their favourite all over the globe!
If you’re a burger aficionado, come to Cornwall at the end of August and into September for the Burger Love event! What a few months it’s been. If your 2020 has been like ours, we’re willing to bet a few things: 1) You’ve been getting more into cooking lately, and 2) you could really, really use a break.
You’re not alone! If you’re looking for a way to get out and enjoy the end of summer before it’s over, we think you should visit Cornwall, Ontario for an easy getaway. Not only do we have plenty of spacious outdoor spaces like Lamoureux Park winding along the St. Lawrence River and the historic Upper Canada Village, but we also have incredible outdoor community events!
If you have been doing more cooking lately, then you know one thing for sure: good garlic is really, really important.
It’s been a year, and chances are the garlic you’ve been buying at the grocery store is… well... fine, but you know in your heart that it doesn’t hold a candle to more potent varieties like Red Russian or Italian Purple… or even incredible kinds that you haven’t even tasted yet!
The farmlands around Cornwall produce some of Ontario’s best garlic, and the end of August is harvest season! If you visit on the weekend of the 30th, then you can tour these farms, chat with the farmers (from two metres away, naturally) and buy some of the freshest, most spectacular heirloom garlic you’ll ever taste!
Take part in fun activities like workshops on spring garlic and herb planting, garlic scape garlic harvesting and drying, cooking lessons, arts & crafts activities, and on-site tours with the farmers who grew this bounty! There’ll be plenty of other farm-fresh goods to enjoy as well, so get ready to stock up!
Obviously, this year will look a little different than previous years, but if everyone stays respectful and conscious then it will still be a great day in the sun, enjoying the farm’s great bounty! It’s a great couple’s activity – after all, garlic breath isn’t a problem if you BOTH have it!
Planning a day trip to Cornwall to buy your year’s stock of garlic? Book a stay at the Ramada Cornwall. Our safety standards are up to date and we can’t wait to give you a break from your everyday.
Cornwall is a great place to visit at any time of year! We’re gifted with beautiful scenery, a friendly community and exciting events like these!

When you plan a trip to Upper Canada, you'll see many wonderful sights in Cornwall such as St. Raphael's Ruins, the Amazing Centre, Lamoureux Park, and much more. There will also be no shortage of fabulous upcoming shows to see in March!
Back in the early 2000s, Kenny Vs. Spenny was a breath of fresh air on the Canadian comedy scene. Perhaps the air smelled like farts, sweat and other unpleasantness, but it was certainly fresh; there was nothing else like it on TV, and there hasn’t been anything like it since.
Two “friends” (the term is loosely applied) named Kenny and Spenser challenged each other to a series of mutual dares. They would see who could gain the most weight, who could stay awake the longest, etc. Over time, the challenges became increasingly revolting and strange. The winner of the gross-out competition always had to do something humiliating as punishment. Their antics were foul, disgusting, and absolutely hilarious.
Now, years later, Kenny & Spenny are older, no wiser, and on the road in a stage show that harnesses the anarchic energy of their television series. Rather than engage in obnoxious and nauseating contests, they roast and verbally poke and prod each other, driving each other to the brink of insanity… and their audiences to the brink of tears of laughter. See them skewer each other at the Port Theatre on March 26th.
One of the funniest, spectacular, and most impressive sports showcases will be making a stop in Cornwall. The legendary Harlem Globetrotters are the perfect combination of incredible basketball mastery and athleticism and professional showmanship. Watch them showboat on their eternal “rivals,” The Washington Generals, as they dunk, jump, pass and shoot with unmatched skill and flair for performance. The Globetrotters are world famous and sports entertainment personified. Catch all the b-ball shenanigans at the Ed Lumley Arena on March 30!

Cornwall is full of national pride. Come visit this March for shows featuring some of the greatest talents to ever come from Canada!
Canada’s own Neil Young is one of the greatest songwriters of all time. His lilting voice has entranced and seduced listeners ever since his appearance in his first band, Buffalo Springfield, right into his collaborations with Crosby, Stills and Nash and, of course, his solo career. Young’s output in the 70s is unrivalled – he's recorded some of the most heartbreakingly beautiful songs in folk rock that have ever existed.
Neil Young is still out there, but he doesn’t tour anymore and when he does he’s not quite the singer he was in the 70s – which is fine! But if you wish you could go back in time to experience Neil in his heyday, you need to make your way to the Port Theatre on March 7 to see Andrew Sansone performing as “The Loner,” a pastiche personality that captures the very best of Neil Young in his prime. Hear Sansone play hits from “After the Gold Rush,” “Comes a Time,” and “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere” – you’ll think you’ve been transported back to the 1970s!
Ryan Lalonde is one of Cornwall’s favourite sons! This talented magician has been performing for years now and is one of the most talented illusionists currently working in Canada. His stage shows combine incredible feats and comedy, offering his audiences an unforgettable experience. Ryan is currently on his Believably Unbelievable tour, blowing minds everywhere he goes! He’ll be playing at his old stomping grounds at the Aultsville Theatre here in Cornwall on March 6. Whether you’re an aficionado of the mystical arts or you need a little magic and wonder in your life, this show is a can’t miss.
